Thank you for considering Michelle Haumont Jewelry for your custom bridal jewelry. Our goal is to provide you with a personalized experience to bring your perfect ring to life.
Welcome
We are excited for you and want to help you celebrate this milestone in your life. Michelle creates an inclusive and supportive space for you to express your ideas. She can design a ring from start to finish or customize one of the rings in our portfolio. Whether you are wanting a completely unique and one of a kind ring or a more traditional ring, she will help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Michelle Haumont Jewelry custom engagement rings start at $2000 and go up from there depending on the type, shape, size and quality of the center stone as well as the number and type of accent stones, ring complexity and details. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if your budget is under $2000 and we will do our best to help you find a ring that fits in your price range.
We recommend starting the design process as early as possible. From start to finish, the process of creating a custom ring can take 3-4 months. We will consider rush orders for an additional fee.
Step 1: INQUIRY AND CONSULTATION
Complete our inquiry form to help Michelle know a little about what you are looking for. She will follow up with you within 48 hours of receiving your inquiry to schedule a phone or in person consultation. Please feel free to email us any inspiration photos with your inquiry form.

During the initial consultation she will discuss the following details: stone options, metal options, type of setting, stone orientation, accent stones and budget. She will also answer any questions you may have.

Once you know that you would like to proceed with a custom piece, a $250 design fee is required to initiate the process. This fee will be deducted from the final cost of your ring. This fee secures your slot in our schedule and includes time spent sourcing your stone and preparing the initial design sketches. Please note, the $250 design fee is non-refundable should you decide not to proceed.
Step 2: Stone Sourcing and Design Sketches
We will begin sourcing your stone once the design fee has been paid. We will send you pictures and/or videos of the stone choices in your budget. We source the highest quality stones possible from artisan gemstone cutters to certified diamond distributors. We prioritize ethical standards and practices by committing to acquiring only responsibly sourced conflict free stones.

Once the stone has been chosen, we will send you some basic initial sketches for your approval. This is a good time to make any changes if necessary. Once you have approved the sketches we are ready to move on to the 3D rendering phase. This phase is completed for all rings that will be cast. For designs that will be hand fabricated, this step is unnecessary.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for stone sourcing and design sketches.

Heirloom Stones - Heirloom stones refers to using a client provided stone from a piece of family jewelry. We are happy to take a look to see if your heirloom stones are safe to be used in a piece of jewelry. Sometimes older stones have damage from wear over time.

Client Purchased Stones - We prefer to work with stones we source as we can better guarantee the quality. We are happy to look at your stones to see if we think they are usable.

Please Note: Because we can't guarantee quality for stones we did not source, we are not liable for damage to client purchased and heirloom stones if they chip or break during the unsetting or resetting process.
Step 3: CAD Design and 3D Rendering
Once we have an approved sketch we will create a 3D rendering using CAD software. When complete, we will present the renderings to you for approval along with the final price quote. The first round of edits is complimentary. Additional changes are $100. A complete redesign will require a new design fee of $250.

Once the rendering is approved a 50% deposit is required to move the ring into production. Occasionally, clients want to see a resin sample of the ring prior to the ring being fully produced. Each resin model is $40 and adds approximately 2 weeks on to the production time. Resin models will only be produced after the deposit has been paid.

Please Note: Once the 50% deposit is made and the ring is in production, we can no longer refund the deposit or make any changes to the ring.

Step 4: Production
During production your ring gets fabricated or cast, polished and the stones are set. Please allow 6-8 weeks for production.

Step 5: Delivery
Once your ring is complete and ready to be picked up or shipped, the remaining 50% of your balance is due.

For those who choose shipping, we will send pictures and video of your ring.

We ship insured 2 day with signature required upon delivery.

We will provide you with a certificate of authenticity listing the details of the stones, metal and pricing for your records. This can be used for appraisal and insurance purposes.

For insurance, we recommend Jeweler's Mutual or you may be able to add it to your homeowner's policy.

Warranty and Repair
Warranty - Our jewelry will last a lifetime if cared for and maintained properly. You must remove your jewelry in situations that can cause wear and tear such as, working out, doing dishes, showering, gardening, and even sleeping. Not removing your jewelry can damage, weaken and wear down the setting. This can cause the stone to loosen and fall out.

Repair - We are happy to repair any Michelle Haumont Jewelry piece of jewelry. If it is determined to be an issue with fabrication, repair is complimentary. If the damage is related to wear and tear, a fee will be applied. We can not warranty stones but would be happy to source a replacement stone a close to the original as possible.

Gemstones and Materials
Metals
We recommend 14k yellow, white and rose gold for rings that will be worn everyday due to the sturdiness of the metal. 18k gold is also available, however, we want you to know that 18k is a bit softer and more prone to scratches. Other metals are available upon request.
Diamonds
Diamond are a great choice for an engagement ring due to their beauty and durability. Diamonds are a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale making them less likely than any other stones to scratch or break. Choosing a diamond can be overwhelming. Prices of diamonds can vary drastically due to the cut and quality of the diamond. Diamonds are graded according to The Four C's - Cut, Carat, Clarity and Color. We have put together some information to help with understanding the difference between diamonds.
Cut
Cut refers to the quality of the cut such as the proportion and arrangement of facets. The quality of the cut affects the amount of brilliance, sparkle and fire shown in a diamond. Grades of cuts range from Excellent to Poor. Diamonds with a poor cut grade usually appear dull and lifeless.
Carat
Carat refers to the diamond's weight. Usually the higher the weight the more valuable the stone.
Clarity
Clarity refers to the size and number of internal inclusions and external blemishes. Grades range from flawless to included. Diamond grades VS2 or SI1 do not usually have inclusions visible to the naked eye and can be a good value.
Color
Color measures the absence of color. The less color a diamond has the more desirable it is. Diamonds are graded on color from D-Z with D being the clearest, having no detectable color and Z showing light color. Diamonds beyond Z on the scale are considered to be fancy color diamonds and are graded on a different scale. The color grade of a diamond affects the price of the stone. D,E,F are typically rare and valuable. G and H are considered a good value. Color becomes more apparent in grades I and below.
Lab Grown Diamonds
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. The difference is that instead of being grown in the earth, they are created in a controlled lab. They have the same visual, chemical, physical and optical properties and are just as durable (also a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale). Lab grown diamonds are sustainable and ethical as they have a smaller environmental footprint and are fully traceable. They are an affordable option but may not hold their value as well.
moissanite
Moissanite is not a synthetic diamond. It is an extremely rare and natural occurring stone found in meteorites. Due to its rarity it is now lab grown. Moissanite is a 9.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale making it a durable and affordable option to a diamond.
Champagne Diamonds
Champagne diamonds are known for their warm hues in honey to golden cognac. These diamonds are part of the fancy color diamond classification. They are a beautiful alternative to traditional white diamonds and cost considerably less.
Salt and Pepper Diamonds
Salt and pepper diamonds are unique and have been becoming an affordable alternative to white diamonds. These diamonds are heavily included and the inclusions are what makes them unique and special. They can range from earthy shades to grey, frosty white and black. They make for a truly unique setting.
Sapphires
Sapphires come in a range of colors from the traditional blue to teals, yellows, greens, pinks and whites. Sapphires are a great alternative to diamonds if you are looking to add a little color to your ring and still have the sturdiness and scratch resistance of a diamond. Sapphires are a 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scale making them great for everyday wear.
Other Gemstones
We work with a variety of gemstones and would be happy to discuss your ideas with you. We highly recommend using a stone of 7-8 or higher on the Mohs Hardness Scale.
